This 90-minute live webinar gives mental health practitioners (e.g. psychology, psychiatry, social work, mental health nursing) who are not yet familiar with RO DBT an overview of the treatment and the clinical population it is designed to treat. There will also be time for questions.

The aim is for clinicians to be able to make an informed decision on whether or not RO DBT is suitable for their clients and whether they want to learn how to practice RO DBT.

Learning Objectives. After attending this webinar, you will be able to:

  1. List the four core deficits of overcontrol

  2. Describe what Radical Openness is

  3. Evaluate whether RO DBT might be a suitable treatment for your clients

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide the most effective treatment for each individual client through a transdiagnostic approach and to practice adherence to the Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and Radically Open-Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (RO-DBT) treatment models. While the main treatment modalities are RO DBT and DBT, all of the clinicians working at The Centre are trained in a variety of trauma informed and evidence based treatments. The clinician will work with you to create a plan for your work together.

The Centre will help you find your valued goals and learn skills to help you achieve your goals. The clinicians understand the main goal of standard DBT is to "build a life worth living" and RO DBT's goal is to "build a life worth sharing". Our dialectical approach is that both goals are equally important. We want to help our clients see that life is worth living and in order to connect we help them share their life with others.

We are excited to be the first outpatient centre in NSW to offer all, and first in Australia to offer RO DBT and DBT to adolescents, couples and parents. We understand that both models may prove beneficial to individuals coming to see us as every relationship may be different.

What is DBT?

Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) is an evidence based treatment created by Dr. Marsha Linehan for those who suffer from emotional dysregulation. While the treatment was originally developed for nonsuicidal self-injury in individuals diagnosed with borderline personality disorder it has evolved to treat a range of populations, treatment modalities and disorders. We offer a DBT program in an outpatient setting, which includes individual therapy, skills group, phone coaching and are part of a consultation team.

What is RODBT?

Radically Open Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (RO-DBT) is an evidence based treatment that was created by Dr. Thomas Lynch for disorders of overcontrol, such as anorexia nervosa, chronic depression, autism spectrum disorder, OCPD and maladaptive perfectionism. We offer RO-DBT individual sessions, skills classes, phone coaching and are part of a national consultation team. This is an exciting new treatment backed by over 25yrs of clinical research. RO DBT targets loneliness and works to help in understanding ruled behaviour that interferes with social connections. If there is a part of you that wants to feel and be closer to others, RO DBT may be right for you.

The Centre for RODBT and DBT provides the full RO DBT and DBT programs to adults, teens and families.
